The records consist chiefly of correspondence but also include reports, minutes, clippings, memoranda, and related papers. Major topics include the American Council on Education; the Association of American Universities; athletics and the NCAA; the Council of Presidents; development; the General Assembly; the Governor of Virginia's office; the Irish Universities Quality Board; the Mariner's Museum; the Medical Center and the Health Services Foundation; the Reserve Officers' Training Corps; the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia; and student affairs. The collection also contains "The Jefferson symposium," a 6 CD sampler containing lectures by Jeremy Black, Joseph Ellis, Joanne Freeman, Annette Gordon-Reed and Peter S. Onuff; two "Access U. Va" disks containing radio and television spots; and a videocassette "Portsmouth Campus" concerning the community college for the Hampton Roads area and the potential sale of part of its campus to the Suffolk.
